History

Comestibles has its origins in the early 1980’s, when founder Faith Nichols began to provide high-end catering services to select clients across Perth. Drawing on her experience in Europe, she offered a return to the concept of food as an integral part of the experience of any occasion, a unique perspective in the fledgling WA hospitality industry. Faith’s hands-on approach and drive saw the business grow, taking on its first employees and launching the Comestibles name in Edward St, East Perth in 1986.

With few businesses on which to model itself, the new Comestibles team found success in solutions which were often unconventional and experimental. Building on the strength of Comestibles catering, the company began to offer more, developing a collection of services which focussed on the whole experience of each event rather than a single component.

The purchase of Comestibles’ Kensington St site in 1999 marked a natural step in the evolution of the business, as it outgrew its home both in scale and capabilities. A new headquarters with a strong aesthetic was designed and built to accommodate not only a world-class kitchen, but also the high-end events management company Comestibles was becoming.

Comestibles now offers over 25 years of experience and expertise to its clients. With more than 100 staff and a calendar comprising some of WA’s most prestigious events, the company continues to grow. From its roots in fine food and exceptional service, Comestibles today moves forward with renewed purpose, a reaffirmation of its values,  and a new experience of the Art of Entertaining.
